• Protective Measures

Remember to wash your hands frequently using alcohol-based hand rubs for at least 30 seconds to ensure your hands are clean. Do this regularly.

We know you are bored and want to see your friends, but it’s essential to maintain social distancing. This can be the difference between life and death for some people, you have a greater impact on the community than you realize. Make sure to keep at least a one-meter distance between you and anyone who is coughing or sneezing.

Avoid touching eyes, nose and mouth in public, this is the main breaching point for the virus, in turn, infecting you.

If you have been in contact with anyone who has been sick, it is important to stay in isolation for at least two weeks. It can take up to two weeks to show any signs of COVID-19, so take the precaution and stay isolated if you have any doubts about your health.

  • Talking to people

It can be a sad, confusing and stressful time during a crisis. You can’t run or hide from it. Talking to family and friends you can trust will help relieve some of that stress. It’s also a perfect time to reconnect with family members you may not have spoken to in a while!

Use this opportunity to reach out to the people you care about.

  • Healthy living

Staying at home can have a dramatic effect on mental and physical health thus it is important to maintain a healthy lifestyle which includes a proper diet, sleep cycles, and exercise. Keep to a regular routine and schedules as much as possible or create one to include, learning, exercise and rest periods.

Every cloud has a silver lining.

Turn this adversity into an opportunity! Address those personal traits you are not happy with and come out of this a better person.

If you are feeling overwhelmed, don’t turn to drugs and alcohol to deal with your emotions. Turn to family and friends, we are all in this together!

  • Misinformation

Social Media platforms such as Facebook are a very quick and effective tool to spread fear and uncertainty into the public sphere. Get the facts. Find credible sources you can trust such as WHO website or MOHS

Limit your time watching and listening to the media coverage, getting facts is essential but watching it 24 hours a day will only heighten levels of stress.

  • Helping Others

Remember to be supportive in your neighborhood. You may have a neighbor who is too old or sick to go shopping for essentials. Phone the people around you and make sure they are healthy and have everything they need. This is a time to support each other and not let fear divide us.
